It is considered unlucky to hang up the mistletoe in houses, or to decorate rooms with holly before Christmas Eve.
The morning after Twelfth Night all the Christmas holly and
mistletoe is burnt. It is unlucky to keep it up longer, or to
destroy it in any other way.
